What can the TemBond® handle?

The TemBond® is extremely secure and can withstand many months of washing and wear. The extension bond is made to be gentle to your natural hair however you must follow its own special rules of wear which means you will want to review and remember these suggestions, recommendations and steps to getting the best hair extension wear you can.
What About Heat? My vacation, saunas, hot tubs, flat irons......
It is important to keep in mind when weighing out which hair extension product is best for you, the pros and cons of each method available to you. If the integrity of your own hair is important to you, if you are looking for a safe and easy method of applying hair extensions yourself, use MANEMAXX®, but follow the resulting cautionary steps necessary to achieve your own extension application and non-damaging hair extension wear.
The TemBond® bonds have been tested successfully in extremely high heat situations, such as withstanding 170 degrees in a sauna or daily, hot and sweaty runs in the heat of a California summer and with this there are a few things to be aware of here when using this hair extension product:
With the TemBond® and when in high heat, such as a sauna, or in direct hot sun, it is suggested you not brush, pull or tug at your extensions at all. You will want to wait until you have returned to a cooler temperature to do this. Very small bonds placed at the top of your head and without much hair coverage, or protection from the beating sun, can warm your bonds enough that they can be pulled out if you tug at them.
To ensure this will not happen, you can:
- Not put very small bonds so high, have enough hair coverage at your crown to protect the extension bonds
- Be sure you are in a shaded area to protect your extension bonds as well as your skin
- Wear a hat, scarf, or some type of covering when in the beating hot sun
- Occasionally harden your extension bonds in cool water if needed
When it comes to wearing hair extensions, each product does its best at what it does, but requires some of the work for successful wear on the part of the user. Any of the MANEMAXX® extension hair products are 100% human hair which can be styled just like your own.
Hair dryers, Hot Irons and the TemBond® bonds
The TemBond® extension bonds are created to be gentle and completely non-damaging for hair extension wear and they are. This in no way means the hold of the TemBond® or length of wear has to be compromised. The TemBond® has reported to have far less slippage and bond loss than major marketed fusion, glue and ring methods of applying the hair extensions.
One issue that comes up here and there is proper hairdryer use with the bonds.
The rule with the heat and TemBond® is this, if your skin can handle it so can your bonds.
Diffusers
![]() | You will want to use a diffuser or lower heat setting drying your wet hair while wearing your bonds. |
![]() | A diffuser is a nozzle which fits on the end of the hair dryer and disperses the heat and air which comes from it such as is pictured here. You can always imitate the action and function of a diffuser by placing a sock over the end of it similar to this. |
Protecting your bonds while drying
It will be important, that while your hair is wet or damp, you are carefully to do as little moving, pulling and brushing to your extension hair. Wet, or damp, hair is expanded hair. Expanded hair could push at your bonds and cause them to break a little. Over time, as this continues to happen, you may end up compromising the hold of your bonds. Just be gentle while the hair is wet and remember that although you feel your hair may be dry, it takes far longer for this to happen at the root and around the bonds.
Tips for avoiding the too high heat of the hairdryer
If you are looking for an alternative to using a hair dryer on your extension hair, your own hair and around the extension bonds, I have a great suggestion. I started using these towels I used for years for drying out the shower, on my hair and they are fabulous. This soaks up all the water at my root and around my bonds as well as throughout my hair. When using this towel my hair is ready for a flat iron in under an hour! ShamWow Towel For Drying Extension Hair
| Flat Irons, Curling Irons, Hot Rollers and The TemBond® Bonds Flat irons, curling irons and hot rollers all need to be kept OFF of your bonds. Never place a hot iron directly on your bonds or they will come out. You are free to straighten and curl your extension hair just BELOW your TemBond® bonds. TIP: If you feel you may forget this and accidentally remove your bonds place a note on the mirror where you style your hair! |
![]() | Hot rollers It is best you don’t use hot rollers if you cannot keep them away from the bonds, but and if you are rolling long hair in hot rollers, the hair you roll should protect the extension bonds from the heat of the roller. You’ll want to test and practice this to see if the hot roller will compromise your extension bonds before rolling a full head. |
